Project Management Certificate

Project Management careers include positions in diverse areas such as aerospace, construction, telecommunications, engineering, and health care.

This certificate program focuses on both the development of knowledge and professional skills to become a Project Manager. Coursework includes topics such as leadership in the project process, planning and control, risk management, and utilization of MS Project management software to develop a project plan, schedule, budget, and produce deliverables for management reporting.

This program of study is outlined by quarter, and courses should be taken in the indicated sequence. However, it should not be concluded that students will always proceed through their program of study exactly as prescribed here. The number of quarters listed here is minimum. Individual student experience, educational and training background, and personal schedules and demands all may affect the time it takes to finish this program. Also, in general, summer quarter is not considered one of the full-time quarters in the program.

Students not requiring certification may take courses of their choice in whatever sequence desired, provided course prerequisites are met, and with permission of an instructor.

Students must contact Career Services within the first two weeks of the first quarter to make an appointment with a career counselor to prepare for an internship.

Note: advanced placement testing, work experience, and transfer of credits may result in course waivers, credit transfer, and advanced placement.

All course work must be completed at North Seattle Community College. Experiential Learning and transfer-in credits can not be applied to this certificate. All program requirements must fulfill a 2.0 GPA or above.

Throughout this program of study the importance of a responsible and professional work ethic is stressed. Factors leading to such a work ethic are identified and discussed. Instruction is also provided in effective leadership and how it enhances the work environment. Input from this program's industrial advisory committee is essential to curriculum content pertaining to the work ethic and leadership as well as the technically oriented curriculum.
