The AAS Degree is helps students learn the knowledge and skills necessary to be a lead teacher in any early education setting, Head Start, private preschools, cooperative preschools, and child care centers.

People with advanced degrees in other fields turn to the community colleges to earn this degree in order to work as early learning specialists with young children. Since the community is hungry for people with an AAS Degree from North Seattle Community College, graduates can often be picky in choosing employment.

Since most of those who enroll in our courses are already employed and enroll to advance their careers, we try to offer most of the courses at night or very late afternoon. We believe that the co-constructive classroom experience is central to discovery learning for adults as well as children, so we do not offer distance education courses at this time.
