Students Scholarships: How To Apply

NSCC Education Fund scholarhips require that all paperwork outlined below be turned in by the specified deadline. Students must be either U.S. Citizens, or Permanent Residents holding a valid U.S. Permanent Resident Card (Green Card), must have a minimum high school and/or college cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5, and submit a transcript which provides detail. Applicants must also submit a personal statement and it is helpful to include other responsibilities, leadership, extracurricular and/or community activities in which you are involved.

International Students should see the International Students Scholarships page for scholarship information.

Note that only one application is necessary to apply for both Merit-Based and Financial Need-Based Scholarships. You only need to fill out the forms once.

Step One Complete FAFSA
Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application. For instructions, follow Step 1 of the Financial Aid application process.

If you have already filled out a FAFSA while applying for Financial Aid, continue to Step 2.

Step Two Complete Education Fund Scholarship Application
Download and fill out the NSCCEF Scholarship application.

To complete the application, you will need to obtain or prepare the following items:

Official or Unofficial Transcript
You must provide a copy of either official or unofficial transcripts. You can get an unofficial copy of your NSCC transcript online from the Grades & Unofficial Transcript request form.

    Letter of Intent
Students must provide a Letter of Intent. A letter of intent often covers the student's background, responsibilities, extracurricular and community activities, why the scholarship is needed, or anything else that you think the Scholarship Committee would benefit from knowing.

Help with writing your Letter of Intent is available from the tutors at the Loft Writing Center Plus.

    Personal Recommendations
Provide two recommendation signatures on the scholarship form from a professor, community leader, or personal acquaintance.
