International Credits

Students who wish to transfer credits from colleges and universities located outside the United States will need to have their transcripts evaluated by an independent international credentials evaluation agency. International Credits Evaluation Procedure

  1. Deliver an officially sealed agency evaluation
    • In Person

Bring the officially sealed evaluation and the official international transcript (translated into English) to the front counter of the Admissions, Registration, Records and Credentials (ARRC) office on the second floor of the College Center Building. Do not open officially sealed documents.

    • By Mail

Officially sealed evaluations may be mailed to the ARRC Office at NSCC. If transcripts have been mailed to NSCC, check with the ARRC office to be sure they have arrived before requesting an credit evaluation.

  2. A copy of the international transcript (translated into English) must accompany the official agency evaluation and Application for Evaluation of Incoming Credits form. Photocopies will be made of the international transcripts and filed in the ARRC office. The official copy of the international transcripts will be given back to the student.
  3. Complete the Application for Evaluation of Incoming Credits form and submit it to an ARRC front counter staff person.
  4. North Seattle Community College's Credentials Office will review the official international evaluation and international transcript to identify credits which can be transferred into NSCC for a degree or certificate.
  5. An official evaluation (Report of Student Progress or Degree Audit) will be mailed to the student, usually within 5-6 weeks after submission of the request. However, during the process of graduation at the end of each quarter official evaluations will take longer.

Please note: The transfer of international credits is intended for NSCC degrees or certificates only. International students should not assume that international credits used in NSCC degrees or certificates will be recognized at any other domestic university or college. Not all U.S. universities or colleges use international evaluation/translation agencies. It is recommended that students contact the universities and colleges they plan to attend to see what procedures should be followed when transferring international credits.
