Credit Transfer for Professional/Technical Degrees

Folder of credentials documents If you plan to earn a Professional/Technical degree or certificate at North Seatle Community College meet with your advisor or faculty coordinator to discuss your program of study and identify next steps. Bring employer letters, unofficial transcripts, or any other official documentation outlining your technical or academic skills for review. Your faculty coordinator or advisor will evaluate the experience for alternative credit. A Request for Academic Exception may be processed. Work Experience, Credit by Exam and Experiential Learning require payment at the Cashier Office before credit will be awarded.

Students with academic credits from another regionally accredited college or university should use the following credentials transfer procedure.

  1. Order Official Transcripts from each college or university attended. Official transcripts should be sent to: Records Office North Seattle Community College 9600 College Way North Seattle, WA 98103-3599 Exception: If you have taken classes at Seattle Central or South Seattle Community College, transcripts from these two colleges are not required.
  2. Fill out the Application for Evaluation of Incoming Credits. The blue Application for Evaluation of Incoming Credits form is located in the Advising Center or at ARRC. Incomplete forms will be returned.
  3. Submit the signed Application for Evaluation of Incoming Credits to the front counter of ARRC. Staff will verify that official transcripts are on file. If official transcripts have not arrived, the student will be asked to submit the form after the Official Transcripts have arrived. Please Note: If you choose to submit your transcripts in person, be sure the official transcripts remain sealed upon delivery.

Credentials Evaluation Results

A copy of the credit evaluation will be sent to you by mail within 6-8 weeks from the date this request is submitted; however, during high volume periods official evaluations may take longer.

The Report of Academic Progress (Degree Audit) is an internal advising tool you should use to track your academic progress. You will need to see your advisor to obtain a current report.

Courses that transfer to North will only appear within the degree audit and not on your NSCC transcript. Transferred in coursework applies towards your degree requirements but will not be calculated in your NSCC GPA.
