Dates and Deadlines

The Prioirty Funding Deadline for the 2008-2009 academic year starting September 2008 is April 30, 2008.

Quarterly Deadlines for 2008-2009
Fall Quarter 2008 August 29, 2008
Winter Quarter 2009 December 1, 2008
Spring Quarter 2009 February 27, 2009
Summer Quarter 2009 May 29, 2009

Summer quarter aid requires a separate, one-page application form in addition to the FAFSA. The summer application is available after April 1 each year. Please contact the Financial Aid office after April 1 for the application form.

Application Process

Step 1

All students must complete the U.S. Department of Education student aid application called the FAFSA. The FAFSA will ask the student to list the Title IV School Code for the college (or colleges) the student is interested in attending. The Title IV School Code for NSCC is 009704.

  1. Complete and submit a paper FAFSA. Students must contact the US Department of Education directly at 1-800-433-3243 and request that a paper FAFSA be sent to them. Colleges will no longer have paper FAFSA forms to distribute to students.
  2. Complete the online FAFSA over the Internet. Follow the directions carefully when it comes to signature requirements! Some students (and parents, if required) will be required to print out and mail a paper signature page. More information is available from the FAFSA website.
  3. Complete a PDF version of the FAFSA. The PDF version will be available for download from the Federal Student Aid website. Students can complete the form on the computer or by hand, and mail it to the address provided for processing.

Students should receive the results from the FAFSA application within four weeks for a paper application, or within a week for an online application. The results come in the form of a paper document called a Student Aid Report (SAR), or for those who apply online, a SAR Print Report. Submit these documents to the NSCC Financial Aid office.

Step 2:

  1. Submit the SAR or SAR Print Report to the Financial Aid office. This is the document that is returned to the student by the federal processing center after the FAFSA is completed. Students who have listed the Title IV Code for NSCC (009704) on their FAFSA may request that the NSCC financial aid office download the electronic version of the Student Aid Report, called an ISIR. Email the office at nsccfinancialaid@sccd.ctc.edu and request this to happen if you are interested in this option.
  2. Complete and submit the NSCC Data Sheet. A Data Sheet can be picked up at the office when you submit the SAR. You can also download the Data Sheet from the Forms and Guides section of this website. Please print out the form (4 pages) and mail it to the NSCC address listed on the top of the first page.
  3. Submit unofficial academic transcripts for all colleges attended within the past 5 years.

In addition to the above, NSCC may request other documentation to determine your Financial Aid eligibility. Additional forms or documents that may be required by the Financial Aid Office are:

  • Tax Verification Documents
  • W-2 forms
  • Citizenship/Immigration Documents
  • Social Security Card
  • Untaxed Income Verification Documents
  • Selective Service Verification
  • Various Institutional Forms as requested by the aid office
