The Award

The Barbara McFalls Scholarship is designed to make higher education more accessible to students who have a disability.  This award is available to students attending North Seattle Community College and registered through Disability Services for academic adjustments/disability accommodations.

Amount                                                                                                                                  

The scholarship is available for one to three quarters (Fall, Winter, Spring) {possibly summer} of a standard academic year to provide assistance for tuition, fees, books, and related expenses.  Amount awarded per quarter varies and is based on financial need and availability of funds.  The scholarship is also available to those who need only to complete a partial academic year.  It may be used for a full-time or part-time academic load.  It may be used only for usual and required costs of applicant's planned course of study and must be paid directly to the school.

Scholarship Application Form is available at the NSCC Financial Aid Office, College Center Building, 2nd Floor, north wing or available at Disability Services, College Center Building, 2nd Floor, north wing

Attach an unofficial copy of transcript

Two letters of recommendation with names and phone numbers (one letter must be from applicant's volunteer supervisor)

How the scholarship is awarded

Applications and all attachments must be received by Friday, February 26th, 2010.  Funds will be available by start of spring quarter, 2010 with possible renewal into the 2010/2011 academic year.  You may apply even if you were awarded the scholarship previously.

Criteria for continuation of scholarship

Students receiving financial aid are required to make satisfactory academic progress in an eligible program of study. You must enroll in classes which meet the requirements of your degree or certificate program.
