Placement Testing

Before registering for classes, you may need to take the Compass placement test in English and/or math.

If you have previously taken the Compass placement test, or if you have completed a college-level English or Math class at another college or university, you might be able to waive the test. Ask an advisor if this applies to you.

Both the math and English tests are taken on a computer. Results for the math test are available immediately. The English test results could take up to three business days to become available.

To take the placement test in math and/or English you will need to have your Student ID number, a photo ID and the correct fee. For details about testing hours and procedures visit the Testing Center's Placement Test page.
