Instruction Aids

Our CAAHEP-accredited program uses a wide variety of models, graphics, videos and items such as x-rays to illustrate and simulate the actual workplace. Many items and equipment are available to insure students get a realistic feeling for what they will perform in the workplace. This greatly enhances the students understanding of the material taught in each course beyond memorization.

Hands-on experience
Students gain valuable "hands-on" practice in learning laboratory procedures including drawing blood, performing basic lab tests on blood and urine, using microscopes to visualize cells and tissues, and performing the standard lab procedures expected of a Medical Assistant. Students perform procedures on each other to better train them for "real" patients on the job after graduation. (Even the instructors are patients sometimes!)

Front office training
Medical Assistants are also trained in the "front office" procedures such as scheduling appointments, reception, medical transcription, medical billing and coding, and secretarial duties. One of our classrooms is set up as the reception area of a clinic would be - where students can simulate the busy pace and many duties of the front desk.

Mock clinic procedures
In our "clinic" classroom, there are 2 fully stocked exam rooms with all equipment and items that a typical doctor's office would have. Students perform procedures as they would do on the job with real patients. This portion of the training includes vital signs, performing EKG's, assisting with minor surgery, and setting up and assisting the physician with various tests and treatments. By simulating a medical office with supplies, equipment and performance, students are well prepared to enter the workplace as competent Medical Assistants.
