The Certificate of Fine Arts in Art is a program of study designed primarily for students who already have a degree in another field and just want to study art. It has no other courses required with the exception of the three state required topics for all certificate programs. The program lays out a course of study that provides basic skills and builds to use those skills in the study of various techniques. It is possible to specialize in painting, watercolor or printmaking (Group I) techniques or 3D forms such as sculpture or jewelry (Group II). However both specializations would be required to take the same required Art Courses of drawing, design and art history.
This certificate is intended to give the aspiring artist the education that
will help establish themselves as independent working artists. The certificate
is granted with the successful completion of the courses and the presentation
of the specially designed and completed portfolio of work executed during
study here at North.
This CFA is not accepted as a transfer degree to another art institution although all the courses taken for it are accepted with
a portfolio by most institutions. Students transferring to another educational institutions for further study with this degree are
advised to contact those schools in the first year of study.
