Purpose
The purpose of the Certificate in Jewelry Design is to facilitate
student creativity, to recognize student achievement, and to demonstrate
competency in this specific area of study.
Overview
The Certificate in Jewelry Design certifies completion of approved work, and is suitable for students currently working in art, but is not a transfer certificate. Students seeking a BA or BFA should consult the NSCC Associate of Arts degree requirements and the graduation requirements of the university at which they intend to enroll.
All CJD art students must have an art advisor and must plan their program with that advisor. Some of the art courses are only offered once a year and students should consult their advisor and the annual planning guide. Course substitutions may be made with the approval of the art advisor and the Dean of Arts, Humanities & ABE.
CJD candidates must complete 60 credits of college-level (numbered 100 and above) courses with a GPA of 2.5 or better. The required Jewelry Design classes must be completed at NSCC. After completion of the required courses, students must mount an exhibition of their work either on campus or at an approved venue. This should be a solid body of work expressing their mastery of materials.
Final approval and recommendation to award the CJD rests with the art faculty.
