FAQ: Frequent Questions
Being able to write well, to understand and enjoy what you read, and to gain a wider perspective on the world are just some of the skills that our courses will help you acquire. These skills are important for you if you are planning to continue your education at a four-year university and crucial to almost any career path that you might be considering.

The English program and its courses here offer you a wide variety of opportunities to develop your writing, reading and critical thinking skills. You can take English classes in traditional classrooms and you can also take selected courses over the Internet. Some of our composition and literature courses can be taken as part of a Coordinated Studies program.

There are many opportunities outside the classroom as well. NSCC has a campus literary and art magazine, The Licton Springs Review, and a student newspaper, The Polaris. We also host an annual writing contest open to all NSCC students which offers cash prizes at the local and the national levels.
