Evacuation

Evacuations may be campus wide, by building, floor or area. Evacuation routes are posted on the door of each occupied space on campus. Know your route!

Faculty members with a class in session should maintain an accurate accounting of attendance and carry that document during an evacuation. Every student must be accounted for during an emergency. Failure to do so will lead to unnecessary efforts to locate missing individuals.

In the event of an evacuation, instructors, floor wardens and building wardens will:

  • Account for all individuals under their span of control
  • Report injuries, casualties, hazardous conditions and missing individuals to their floor or building warden who will report to security or emergency personnel

A continuous alarm will signal an evacuation.

  • Follow instructions in an orderly fashion
  • Exit calmly and quickly
  • Assist others in your area, especially injured or disabled persons
  • Do not use elevators
  • Check walkways and stairwells for damage or debris
  • Meet in designated assembly area
  • Check in with your teacher, floor warden or building warden before leaving campus
  • Do not re-enter the area until notified by appropriate authorities, an intermittent sounding of the alarm will signal the "all clear"
