4-Year Degree? NSCC is Where You Should Begin
Wednesday, October 18th, 2006
North Seattle Community College (NSCC) has had the reputation of being a “transfer school” for years. But is that reputation based on “fact”? According to statistics gathered by the college’s research department, the answer may well be “yes.” For example:
- The percentage of students NSCC transfers to public colleges and universities in Washington is three times higher than other community colleges in the state.
- An analysis of the UW Seattle cumulative grade point average (GPA) for seniors in Fall 2005 indicates that students who had transferred from North had a slightly higher grade point average than those who had transferred from other colleges.
- Over the past 10 years, only three other community colleges have transferred more students to the University of Washington than North.
- Last year (2005-6), North transferred 194 students to the UW Seattle. It also transferred 36 to the University of Washington Bothell, 33 to Central Washington University, 9 to the Evergreen Sate College, 9 to Eastern Washington University, 34 to the Washington State University, and 23 to Western Washington University.
Over the past five years, North has transferred a total of 1,661 students to Washington’s four year colleges/universities.
North offers a comprehensive suite of services for students who are working on their transfer degree. These services include college and university fairs and special events, visits from college representatives, information tables, accurate and helpful advising, and a Transfer Guide.
