NSCC seeks new Vice President of Instruction

The President of North Seattle Community College, Dr. Ron LaFayette, has appointed a search committee to recruit and identify candidates for the position of Vice President of Instruction. The position is being advertised nationally and is open until filled. However, applications for this position may be reviewed and considered immediately upon receipt.
First consideration will be given to candidates who apply by April 9, 2007.

In addition to the main functions identified there, the Vice President of Instruction will:
- Collaborate with executive deans of continuing education and workforce education to create international student, workforce development and lifelong learning instructional strategies
- Pursue innovative approaches such as integrated ESL/work skills programs, applied baccalaureate degree options and expanded integration of distance learning and emerging instructional technologies into teaching and learning goals
- Establish and maintain articulation programs and dual credit programs between the College, local high schools and colleges and universities
- Build effective and enduring partnerships with educational organizations, the business community, community-based agencies and governmental bodies
- Represent the College at the District Vice Presidents for Instruction meetings, the WACTC Instruction Commission and other local, state and national organizations
The college is looking for a person of vision, integrity and accountability who can inspire and support the pursuit of excellence as well as a proactive leader, able to identify and implement programs in a complex, diverse, dynamic environment. He or she will also be a strong communicator who builds effective relationships with students, members of the community, the Board of Trustees, administrators, faculty and staff and who encourages others to do the same. Ideally, candidates will also be critical-thinkers, able to make and support difficult decisions based upon data and other evidence and skilled educators, familiar with the challenges of classroom teaching and capable of providing faculty with support, resources and motivation.
