IT for Healthcare Program Gets New Lab

Thursday, July 19th, 2007

Loretta Ryan, Faculty Coordinator for North’s new IT for Healthcare program, recently announced the installation of a new lab for the program that emulates a healthcare information technology setting. The lab will feature Gateway tablet laptops, a COW (computer on wheels), a smart board as well as additional equipment. Procura, a home health and hospice software used internationally, will be featured in the lab - the first of its kind in the Northwest. Students will experience real-life clinical software firsthand. From patient intake through scheduling and billing of services, the Procura software provides a logical flow that in the lab setting mimics a healthcare worker’s daily processes – an invaluable tool for student learning. The lab will be completed in September for the start of the fall quarter. For more information about the IT for Healthcare program visit www.northseattle.edu/health/it/
