Although experts have not officially declared that we are in a recession, there are signs pointing in that direction. At NSCC we offer programs and services that can help if you're facing a lay-off, having a difficult time finding a job, need to upgrade your skills to increase your job security or want to improve your financial situation. Here's a list of resources to help you get started:

- Investment Class - "Investment Options for Today's Financial Climate", Tuesdays, 7 - 8:30 p.m., starting on June 24 and running for three weeks. The need to save and invest for the future has not changed but the financial climate has experienced a radical change. The combination of the credit market crunch, the downturn in real estate and the very high price of oil have created a perfect storm that presents a challenge to the investor. This class will explain and explore the advantages and uses of immediate, deferred and fixed annuities, and inflation-protected investments as well as longevity insurance policies. Learn how you can weather the storm. The cost of this class is $65. To register, visit: http://www.learnatnorth.org/.
- Workforce Education - If you are unemployed or working in a low wage, part-time job, you may qualify for free tuition, books and fees at NSCC. Last quarter almost 500 students qualified. This quarter, we'd like to qualify 500 more. You could be one of them. No diploma? No problem. We offer GED preparation, high school completion and a range of programs that you can start without a diploma. Choose from over 50 career training programs - find a job you'll love!
