College's Accreditation Reaffirmed
Thursday, February 26th, 2009
President Ron LaFayette recently announced that the accreditation of North Seattle Community College has been reaffirmed on the basis of the Fall 2008 Focused Interim Evaulation by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU).
Institutions accredited by the NWCCU are required to examine their own missions, goals, operations, and achievements. The NWCCU then provides expert analysis by peer evaluators, and, later, commendations for accomplishments and recommendations for improvement from the accrediting body. Since the accreditation status of an institution is reviewed periodically, institutions are encouraged toward continued self-study and improvement.
The Commission will visit the campus in spring 2010 to follow-up on recommendations it made to the college regarding the further development of its student learning assessment process.
