Advanced Training for Nursing Assistants this Fall
Friday, August 28th, 2009
Nursing assistants looking for additional training in order to qualify for higher wages and more employment options have a new place to go - NSCC's Nursing Assistant Academy.
Funded by a Department of Labor grant, the academy will provide new opportunities for NA-C skill-building. One of the first modules is CPR/First Aid for the Healthcare Provider which gives nursing assistants one of the skill sets required for work in hospitals. The Clinical Hospital Experience course leads to competency in skills essential to safe management of hospital patient care at the nursing assistant level, providing the preparation for NA-Cs to compete for jobs in acute care environments. Future modules include courses in Nurse Delegation/Medication Training and Body Mechanics for the Healthcare Worker.
Basic skills support is combined with career training in this program for those who are working on their English or study skills. Tuition assistance may be available to those who qualify.
For more information, contact Kristin Distelhorst at kdistelhrost@sccd.ctc.edu or at (206) 528-4561 or visit the NA-C Academy Web site. There will also be an orientation session for the Clinical Hospital Experience course on Wednesday, September 9th at 6:00 pm in room 1303 of the Instruction Building on the NSCC campus.
