Purpose: North Seattle offers an AFA Degree in Art and an AFA Degree in Music. The AFA Degree requires at least 2 years of study and includes many of the AA degree requirements as well as specific requirements in either art or music.

The AFA Advantage: The Associate of Fine Arts Degree is designed to fulfill the general education requirements of most four-year degrees in Arts and Sciences and, at the same time, to provide the student with an opportunity to concentrate in a major area of study in art and music. The AFA Degree is not universally recognized as a transfer degree, but all courses are currently transferable. Students seeking a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Fine Arts at a four year institution should review the advantages of the AA degree. Consult with your advisor, and the college or university of your choice.

The Art Program has a detailed web site on the Associate of Fine Arts Degree in Art.
Contact the Music Program for details on the Associate of Fine Arts Degree in Music.

Advising: Because faculty coaching of studio and performance work is essential for this degree, students must earn at least 15 credits at North. All students must have an art advisor to help plan their program.
