What is I-BEST?
I-BEST
stands for Integrated Basic Education and Skills Training, and pairs basic skills instructors with professional-technical instructors in the classroom to provide students with literacy education and workforce skills, at the same time. Some of the benefits of
I-BEST
programs include:
- Professional-technical instructors and basic skills instructors teaching together to help students learn faster
- Students learn a professional skill while improving their basic employability skills (reading, writing, time management, etc.)
- Additional time for English as Second Language students to work on language skills
- Students prepare for immediate employment in a technical or professional field after finishing the I-BEST program
Available I-BEST Programs
NSCC currently has three pathways, each which fall within important industry clusters in King/Snohomish Counties that would give students career choices. The pathways are:
