Nancy JG Adelson, GRI

Nancy Adelson

Ms. Adelson is the Coordinator of North Seattle Community College Real Estate Program under whose leadership the student enrollment has increased over 600%, corporate real estate donations have dramatically expanded and real estate certificate and degree programs have broadened significantly to keep pace with industry developments. All of this has taken place as she has maintained a successful mortgage lending career as a part-time senior loan officer with Spectrum Mortgage Company. Her lengthy and dynamic career of 30+ years in real estate has uniquely positioned her to be a vibrant and effective instructor and academic administrator. She has been on the faculty of North Seattle Community College since 1988. Educated at the University of Washington (BA in Business Administration), she has extensively added to her professional education qualifications over the years. Ms. Adelson has served and continues to serve on numerous community service boards from 1st Vice President of the Jewish Genealogical Society to Chair of the Issaquah School District Business and Technology Technical Advisory Committee. In addition to the Seattle Community College District's Trustee Life Long Learning Award and the Dan Evans Innovation Award for her teaching ability, she has received many civic awards for outstanding volunteerism and leadership.

Shirley A. Aguilera, CPM, RPA

Ms. Aguilera brings years of successful real estate experience at an executive level in property management, marketing, development, facilities planning and operations to her position at North Seattle Community College. She has been a real estate executive in banking, private companies and hospital administration and has been active in civic and political organizations. She obtained a BA in Sociology and Social Science and a Masters in Public Administration from the University of Washington. Her community commitment is evidenced by her extensive volunteer work with such organizations as the Northwest Women's Law Center and Junior Achievement of Greater Puget Sound.

Graham F Albertini, SRA

With an appraisal career spanning over 20 years; Mr. Albertini has been an appraiser, trainer, manager, and reviewer. He held several management positions at Home Savings of America and was a senior reviewer at Washington Mutual Bank. Currently he is an independent appraiser specializing in litigation support. His area of expertise is focused on complex and high end residential properties in King and Snohomish county. Graham is also an Appraisal Foundation certified USPAP instructor and an SRA designated member of the Appraisal Institute. He received his B.A. from the University of Washington in Speech Communication and has continued his education at the UW and Bellevue Community College. He has been teaching appraisal courses at North Seattle Community College since 2002. He occasionally drums in "Manna Road" rock band and is also a digital video producer.

Joe Beyer, MBA

After graduating from Western Washington University, Mr. Beyer spent the past 15 years working in the fields of commercial banking, mortgage banking, mortgage lending, real estate and corporate finance. After working his way up to the position of retail branch manager with Wachovia Bank (formerly First Union), Mr. Beyer attended and completed the Masters of Business Administration program at The College of William and Mary in Virginia where he also taught courses in business computing. After spending seven years as a financial manager for Seattle based software companies, Mr. Beyer returned to the field of Real Estate as the Managing Broker for Skyline Properties in Seattle. Mr. Beyer also has been an active real estate investor and property manager for many years.

Rob A. Bill, CPM

Mr. Bill provides his North Seattle Community College students with the benefit of over 20 years of real estate property management and asset management experience with some of the leading companies in the Pacific Northwest. He has managed budgets, negotiated contracts, created and supervised maintenance programs and developed multi-family, commercial, and industrial properties. While engaged in a challenging real estate career, Mr. Bill has maintained a commitment to professional growth with continuing education in business administration, human resource management, marketing, communications, computer information management systems, and real estate classes. He holds a B.A. from the University of Washington in Business Administration with a minor in Construction Engineering. Mr. Bill holds the Institute of Real Estate Management's Certified Property Manager (CPM) designation. He has been an instructor at NSCC since 1997.

Lamont Bossard, J.D.

Mr. Bossard is an attorney specializing in residential and commercial real estate, mortgage lending, title, and escrow. He earned his J.D. degree at Boston College Law School and his B.A. at Stanford University. After working in private practice for several years, he served as in-house counsel for a commercial real estate development company, for two mortgage companies, and for a national developer of cellular towers. He has worked exclusively in real estate since 1987, and in mortgage and escrow since 1995. He is presently Designated Escrow Officer and Managing Attorney for Alta Escrow in Bellevue. Mr. Bossard brings a strong teaching background, having taught continuing education courses for real estate professionals since 1991. He has taught classes at North Seattle Community College since 1997, including real estate law, escrow, title, and real estate fundamentals.

Brooks Brophy, M.S.

Brooks Brophy

Mr. Brophy is the owner/manager of the Seattle branch of Horizon Mortgage, one of the largest independent mortgage brokers, having more than a dozen branches in Washington State. He has been providing real estate and business financing for 25+ years, including commercial real estate financing through banks and the SBA while he was a business consultant. He has worked in both the USA and Mexico and is bilingual in both English and Spanish. Mr. Brophy has more than 6 years university teaching experience in business programs in both the classroom and online at the undergraduate and graduate levels. He earned his Masters Degree from the University of Oregon, and a second Masters Degree in Organizational Systems Renewal through Seattle University.

Connie Buhl, MBA

Connie Buhl is a commercial construction lender with Key Bank Real Estate Capital, one of the largest commercial real estate lenders in the country. She analyzes and structures commercial construction loans in todayís competitive and complex capital marketplace. Ms. Buhl is also principal of Lexington Services, LLC, a real estate investment firm. She has been an active real estate investor for over twenty years. Ms. Buhl holds an undergraduate degree in Facilities Engineering from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and an MBA from the University of Washington. She also completed the Certificate in Commercial Real Estate Development program at the University of Washington, School of Architecture and Urban Planning. Her community involvement includes volunteering as Chief Engineer on the Steamship Virginia V, a 1922 historic Puget Sound steam vessel, assisting the elderly through Seattle's Elderfriends Program, and participating in various neighborhood groups in her community.

Betsy Campbell

Betsy Campbell is a full time tenured faculty member of North Seattle Community College, having been associated with the college for 17 years. She brings a wealth of experience and professional training to her information technology and math students. Ms. Campbell holds a B.A. from the University of Washington and a Certificate in Computer Programming.

Marcos E. Campos, SRA, MAI

Marcos E. Campos

Marcos (Marc) Campos, MAI, SRA started appraising in 1983 after graduating from Stanford University with a degree in Industrial Engineering. He started with residential properties and added multifamily and commercial properties a few years later. His current appraisal practice includes complex residential, subdivisions, condo or townhouse projects, and small commercial & industrial properties. About half of his work is done for lending purposes. The other half includes litigation support, estate valuation, and marketing. He is a qualified expert witness Snohomish, King and Island counties. Mr. Campos is an approved Appraisal Institute instructor, approved community college instructor, approved real estate instructor, AQB Certified USPAP Instructor, and a licensed designated real estate broker. He has served in many AI Seattle chapter leadership positions including president in 2001. He is now serving on the national board of directors of the Appraisal Institute. A highlight of his appraising career is that he appraised the most expensive house currently listed in the NWMLS (now at $40,000,000).

Jeffrey Coonjohn, J.D.

Jeffrey Coonjohn

Jeffrey Coonjohn is currently a Senior Attorney with Alaska Airlines, Inc. in Seattle, WA. where he works on complex commercial agreements, environmental affairs and property issues. Prior to working at Alaska Airlines, Jeff served as an attorney with the U.S. Army including working real property issues in Honduras, Kosovo and Iraq. Additionally, Jeff spent four years as a Real Property Attorney with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Seattle District). Jeff is a vibrant and passionate instructor who energizes the class with real world examples. Jeff has taught courses on real property for nearly two decades as well as courses at the University of Virginia (TJAGSA), the University of Washington (ROTC) and at North Seattle Community College. Jeff has a Bachelors Degree in English from UCLA and a Juris Doctorate in Law from the University of Wisconsin. Jeff is member of the bar in Washington, California and Wisconsin.

Michael S. Corbell, CPM

A property asset manager for GVA Kidder Mathews Property Services, Mr. Corbell presently co-manages a large medical center and adjacent medical office building in Bellevue. His previous experience includes property management positions for Kenney Wilson Properties Northwest at 600 Broadway Medical Center, Northgate North Shopping Center, Larry's Bellevue Shopping Center, and Dash Point Shopping Center; he began his career managing Denny's Restaurant for 14 years. A graduate of Highline Community College with a degree in Business Administration and Management, Mr. Corbell is an active member of Seattle's Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA).

Clark Dickson

With an appraisal and lending career spanning 21 years, Mr. Dickson owns and operates Dickson Appraisal Services in South King County. As an appraiser, he has been a regional appraisal manager, and senior reviewer with Washington Mutual Bank, as well as a sole proprietor. During time with the bank, he developed and taught a number of appraisal-specific seminars designed for appraisers which included manufactured housing, waterfront properties, custom construction and the cost approach. Previously, he has guest lectured at North Seattle Community College at the request of other instructors starting in 2001. Mr. Dickson specializes in complex residential properties in King, Pierce and Snohomish Counties. When not appraising, he spends time fly fishing for mostly-unwilling trout throughout the northwest.

Elizabeth Erickson

Ms. Erickson formed Gallery Homes Real Estate in Mukilteo, Washington in 2003 after a successful career as a Real Estate Broker/ Manager for Windermere Real Estate. She personally trained and coached dozens of agents under her management. Her commitment to education is strong. She served 4 years as the Education Chair on the Snohomish County Board of Realtors, participating in selecting courses and teachers for clock hour classes. Throughout her 14 years in real estate she has remained an active realtor, selling a broad range from starter homes to many high-end homes. Recognized as an active leader in community affairs, Ms. Erickson also serves on the Board of Directors of the Mukilteo Family YMCA, 1½ years as the Chairperson; and 1½ years on the Snohomish County YMCA Board of Trustees.

Randall C. Gilliam, MAI

Randall (Randy) Gilliam, MAI is a graduated from the University of Colorado and has over 26 years experience in real estate, including 14 years as an appraiser. His professional focus is on the valuation of income producing properties with experience in market analysis, and economic studies. Assignments have been completed on a diverse group of property types that include retail centers, office buildings, medical office, industrial properties of all types, hotels, senior care facilities, automobile dealerships and service stations. He is currently employed by GVA Kidder Mathews Valuation Advisory Services and is an approved Appraisal Institute Instructor as well as an approved community college instructor. He is actively involved with the Seattle Chapter of the Appraisal Institute and has served as chair person on numerous committees. He is a two-time attendee of the Leadership Development and Advisory Council (LDAC) in Washington D.C. (2006-2007). In 2008, he will be the Chair person for the Chapter's Education Committee. Mr. Gilliam has also been involved in coaching youth sports including girl's fastpitch (Kirkland American Little League).

Kevin Green

Kevin Green

Kevin is a Mechanical Engineer (University of Waterloo, Waterloo, ON, CAN). His interest and experience in building science and home renovations led him to a career as a Home Inspector. He works for Carson Dunlop & Associates Ltd., one of the recognized leaders in the home inspection field across North America, and performs home inspections in the Kitchener-Waterloo and Toronto areas. He is a member of OAHI (Ontario Association of Home Inspectors) and CAHPI (Canadian Association of Home and Property Inspectors), which follow the same guidelines as ASHI (American Society of Home Inspectors). In addition to his field experience, Kevin has been involved with the development of educational materials and online courses for home inspectors.

Richard J. Hagar, SRA

Richard J. Hagar

Mr. Hagar is the owner of American Home Appraisals and has 30 years of successful experience as a licensed real estate agent and investor. He has focused the last 18 years of his professional life as an appraiser, with the SRA designation awarded by the Appraisal Institute and has held various executive positions with the Seattle Chapter. Mr. Hagar earned degrees in Business Administration and Economics, and has continued his education by taking extensive advanced courses in both real estate, law and appraisal; he now authors classes in real estate investment, fraud and appraisal. He has been a teacher since 1994 and associated with North Seattle Community College since 2002.

Larry W. Hopt, J.D.

A full-time faculty member at North Seattle Community College teaching Real Estate, Business Law, and Accounting classes for the past 19 years, he was also an instructor at the University of Washington School of Business. Mr. Hopt received his undergraduate education at the University of Colorado and Boise State University. He then obtained a J.D. from the University of Washington Law School and practiced law in Chicago and Seattle for over 20 years. He is the author of two articles on wills and revocable living trusts in the State of Washington.

Len Johnson

Mr. Johnson has over 25 years of real estate experience in both corporate and consulting positions involved in development and the structuring of complex real estate transactions. Mr. Johnson's experience includes previous real estate executive positions for domestic transportation firms, real estate development companies, and as Director for one of the "Big-4" international accounting and consulting firms. He provided significant pre-development consulting services for a Northwest based Art Museum and is currently being retained as operating manager for a several hundred million dollar West Coast development. Mr. Johnson's extensive real estate career has included executive responsibility in pre-development management, asset management, redeployment of assets and dispositions, construction administration and managing the public process associated with achieving project approvals.

J. Patrick Mahoney

Mr. Mahoney brings decades of real estate experience to his career as an instructor at NSCC. Starting in mortgage banking, he served as a corporate real estate executive, then as a commercial real estate broker specializing in office buildings. He proposed the development of a headquarters office building to Transamerica Corporation and under personal assignment did the site selection, site acquisition development consulting and leasing management that resulted in the landmark Pyramid office building in San Francisco. He then founded his own development and consulting firm in San Francisco, developing urban office buildings in California and Washington. He has provided commercial real estate consulting services to banks, corporations, and institutions in California, New Jersey, and Louisiana. He also served for many years as a trustee of an NYSE-listed real estate investment trust. Mr. Mahoney attended Stanford University, majoring in economics.

Richard P. Megenity, CPM

As the owner and broker of Rainier Property Management Company since 1992, Mr. Megenity has provided professional commercial real estate management, leasing and investment services in Snohomish County for private and institutional owners. He began his career by serving as an asset manager in several banks and managed a large trust portfolio in five western states. His formal education includes a degree in Business Administration from George Fox College and a real estate program at the University of Oregon. He has been an instructor at North Seattle Community College since 1996.

Patricia Parsons, MBA

Ms. Parsons has a distinguished career in the title and escrow industry specializing in commercial real estate transactions and now is the Northwest Strategic Development Manager and Vice President of First American Title Company in Seattle. During her career as a senior executive, she has been effective in developing strong teamwork, employee development, and operations management and efficiency in a competitive market. Ms. Parsons has provided leadership in merger organization, client relations, and customer development. She received an MBA from Marylhurst University, has continued her professional education and is active in professional associations. She is President of Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW)-Seattle as well as on the St. Andrew's Housing Group Board in Bellevue, Washington. Her BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute testifies to the diversity of her interests.

Megan Ritchie Saffitz, LEED-AP

Megan Ritchie Saffitz

Megan is a sustainable development consultant for one of the nation's premier green building consulting firms. As a LEED Reviewer, Megan has reviewed numerous LEED Applications on behalf of the U.S. Green Building Council and contributed to the next version of the LEED Rating System: LEED Version 3.0. Megan is also active in the Cascadia Region Green Building Council, sitting on the Steering Committee for the Seattle Branch. She also co-chairs the Seattle LEED User's Group, organizing monthly programs on sustainable development for the local design community. Lastly, Megan is a Built Green Certified Professional and a founding signatory of the Cascadia Chapter of the Congress for New Urbanism. Megan has two graduate degrees from the University of Pennsylvania: a Masters in City and Regional Planning and a Masters in Landscape Architecture. She also has a Bachelors degree in Environmental Science from Scripps College. Prior to moving to Seattle, Megan was a planner with Brown + Keener Bressi and the Mayorís Intern in the Department of Strategic Planning with the City of Philadelphia.

David Teece

Mr. Teece has been an instructor of Real Estate Appraisal classes at North Seattle Community College since 1991 and owner of David Teece Appraisals in Seattle since 1995. He began his career in real estate appraisal in 1984 while attending California State University in Hayward. After Graduate School at the University of Washington, Mr. Teece began appraising full time in Monterey, California, eventually becoming part owner in the largest firm on the Central California Coast. Relocating to Seattle, David held management positions in the appraisal departments of Bank of America and Washington Mutual Banks before starting Teece Appraisals.

Rebecca K. Weiss, J.D.

Widely recognized as one of the Seattle area's outstanding real estate lawyers, Ms. Weiss' practice emphasizes transactions and litigation, including purchase and sale, escrow, boundary disputes, easements, commercial leases, foreclosures, and toxic mold in buildings. She is a frequent speaker on real estate issues for Washington State Bar's Continuing Legal Education seminars. Active in community affairs, she has been on the Board of Managers for the Metro Center YMCA, serving as its chairman for three years. In addition, she is on several public utilities advisory committees. Ms. Weiss received her B.S. in Biological Oceanography from the University of Washington and her J.D. from George Washington University.
