Resource Room Use Policy: The Career Services Resource Center is for work search and career research only. You are welcome to use the resources in the Resource Center on a self-service basis. If you need individual assistance, contact Janet Sekijima for an appointment. NSCC students and graduates will be given priority use of the Resource Center.

Career Resources: 5 computers with Internet access, laser printer, fax machine, notebook of sample resumes; Reference Library of career-related books and videos (See Reference Library for listing on Online Resources. Items for use in the Career Services Resource Center only), VCR/TV and headphones, plus a variety of Computer-Based Software Programs to help you explore your career interests, skills, values and aptitude.


Computer-Based Software Programs in the Career Services Resource Center:

  • Washington Occupational Information System (WOIS): Learn what a typical day in the life of a specific occupation is like. View earnings, skills and training required, projected outlook, work conditions, relevant professional associations, plus schools and training programs offered in the state of Washington.
  • Workforce Explorer Washington: Identify occupations that match your interests and skills. Research labor market in Washington by industry and by county and compare projected outlook for occupations. Access information regarding training providers and graduate outcomes by program and by college/training provider.
  • O-Net: Explore over 950 different occupational areas. Learn skills, abilities, knowledge, work activities, and interests associated with various occupations. Search for occupations that use your skills.
  • Occupational Outlook Handbook: Online version of a handbook published every other year with information on over 250 careers. Find job descriptions, employment outlook, education required, working conditions and earnings.
  • WinResume: View hundreds of resume examples for various occupations. Use this information to assist you in writing your own resume. View 100,000 powerful phrases you can use in your resume and cover letter.
  • ZoomText: Magnifies text size on the computer screen for visually impaired individuals.
