A student gathers her notes and prepares for class. The Loft offers two credit-bearing courses associated with its tutoring activities.

ENGL080 - English Skills Shop

Individual and small group study to improve listening, speaking, study skills, reading comprehension and rate, vocabulary, phonics and word skills, spelling, grammar, writing sentences, paragraphs and essays. Prereq: Permission or placement; consult college testing office. Does not replace an ENGL090-level class but may be taken concurrently with an 090-level class. EDUC200 - Peer Tutoring

Students who take EDUC200: Peer Tutoring, a variable credit course, will spend time observing, reading about, and writing about the craft of tutoring. After an initial period of study and reflection, these students will have the chance to tutor students themselves. Contact the Loft director for more information.
