Teachers
A student and tutor work through a difficult task together. Students enrolled in any class, from ESL to English to Biology to History, visit The Loft to learn techniques for reading more critically, studying more productively, and for writing and speaking with more precision and style.

English Help
Tutoring
Students work with Loft tutors on every aspect of writing - from the finer points of English grammar to more global matters of organization and development. Tutors also help students refine their strategies for reading assigned texts and for taking notes in class. If students need help turning these written products into spoken presentations, our tutors can lend a sensitive ear and a depth of academic experience.

Self-Study Computers
Loft software programs help students focus on brainstorming, reading, listening, grammar, and a host of other English language skills. Word-processing is also available on our computers.

Online Resources
Students working at home can find answers to many writing questions by perusing our collection of Internet links and home-produced handouts. Some of the Web sites featured here include interactive grammar and language learning activities.

Courses
Students enrolled in English classes may also take ENGL080: English Skills Shop. This two-credit course enables students, in a self-directed format, to supplement their English studies with time spent working in The Loft Writing Center. EDUC200: Peer Tutoring teaches students about the craft of tutoring, and gives them the chance to tutor their peers in The Loft.
