What Is Running Start?

Student ready to start school The Running Start Program was created in 1990 by our state legislature as a part of the "Learning by Choice" law. It is a program that allows high school juniors & seniors to take college classes, earning both high school and college credits for these courses.

Running start students may take up to 18 credits of college level classes per quarter, free. Credits earned now may be used toward your future university/college degrees.

Running Start reduces the amount of time students spend in school, can reduce overall college costs for students and their families, and is a way for students to transition to college.
