Every student pays a Service and Activities Fee (S&A Fee) which is included in tuition. It is the intent of the state legislature that these fees support programs, services, and activities that reflect the wants and needs of the student body. Each year a committee called the Budget Development Subcommittee (BDSC) is formed to review and evaluate S&A Fee funding requests to support ongoing as well as new programs, services and activities. Since S&A Fees are student dollars, students make up the majority of the committee and thus have the deciding vote. It is the committee's charge to evaluate requests, vote on and develop a budget and then to submit a budget recommendation to the campus administration which then goes onto the Board of Trustees for final approval.
More information about the S&A Fee, BDSC, and how to get involved in the process, is available from the student leadership website.
