- How do I get started?
- The first step to enrolling into the Worker Retraining Program is to attend an Information Session. These sessions are held every Tuesday at 2:30pm in room 3449 on the third floor of the College Center Building. The college is located at 9600 College Way, Seattle, WA.
- How do I pay for it?
- Tuition and other assistance may be available to you if you pursue a certificate or degree program or are upgrading your skills. To begin this process, you must apply for financial aid, even if you have a college degree. More information about financial aid can be found in the Financial Aid section.
- What is CAT?
-
Commissioner Approved Training
(CAT) is a request
to the Employment Security Department that allows you to collect your
unemployment insurance while attending school full-time.
CAT does not pay
for tuition or books.
- What is TB?
- If you are enrolled in an approved training program, Training Benefits (TB) allow you to collect additional weeks of unemployment benefits once you have received all your regular benefits. TB does not pay for tuition or books.
- What happens if I exhaust my Unemployment Benefits?
- A worker retraining student who has exhausted or will exhaust all Unemployment Benefits may be eligible for Training Completion Aid (TCA). Please check with Worker Retraining staff for more information.
- What classes can I take?
- Worker retraining covers a number of classes and programs that lead to high demand careers. Because the emphasis in the Worker Retraining Program is retraining and rapid re-employment, programs designed to transfer to a four-year college or university will not be approved for training. For a listing of the programs you can pursue through the Worker Retraining program, visit the Program Options section.
