Exams for Credit

Advanced Placement Exams

College Board Advanced Placement (AP) exams are scored on a scale of 1 – 5. At North Seattle College, scores of 3 or higher are considered for college credit awards or placement. Please see the Advanced Placement Table to view course equivalencies.

International Baccalaureate Exams

Credit for the IB exam is awarded for subjects in which the student has earned a grade of 4 or higher. Please see the International Baccalaureate Table to view course equivalencies. A maximum of 45 quarter credits may be awarded for IB.

Cambridge International A-Level Exams

Credit for A-Level exams is awarded for each exam with a passing grade. A maximum of 45 credits may be awarded for A-Level exams. Please see the A-Level Table to view course equivalencies.

Cambridge International
(CI)

The public baccalaureate sector recognizes the Cambridge International Examination for A-Level exams. Up to 15 quarter credits will be granted for each A-level exam with a passing grade or above for approved examinations. May be subject to maximum credit limits. Duplicate credit for the same subject taken on different exams will not be granted. No grades are posted for A-level exams.

Washington community and technical colleges will grant a minimum elective credit for each Cambridge International Examination for

A-level exam with a passing grade or above for approved examinations. Credit will be awarded on the basis of official Cambridge International Examination results, not transcript notation. Duplicate credit for the same subject taken on different exams will not be granted. No grades are posted for A-level exams.

International Baccalaureate (IB)

 

The public baccalaureate sector will grant at a minimum elective credit for International Baccalaureate (IB) higher-level exams completed with a score of five (5) or higher, with exceptions. May be subject to maximum credit limits. Limited credit is granted by Central Washington University and Evergreen for some standard level exams. Please contact the institution for additional details.

Washington community and technical colleges will grant a minimum elective credit for an International Baccalaureate (IB) Higher Level (HL) exam score of 5 or higher. Credit will be awarded on the basis of official IB results, not transcript notation.
